Transfer Rx to Kroger: Save $1 per gallon (up to $35 value)

Kroger's coupon-less Rx transfer incentive has shown up in Columbus, Ohio, again. This time it expires March 21, 2015.

Remember: Most locations will limit you to ONE per day. Ask your pharmacist for a copy of their prescription coupon policy (especially in regard to their claim of "We Gladly Accept Competitors Coupons"). It's a page long and subject to additional limitations and restrictions and whatever the pharmacist makes up on her/his own.

Refer to the mailing they sent out by postcard as shown below that had coupons attached.

Giant Eagle will likely match/beat this offer if you bring it up ... and allow you to use it for multiple Rx transfers (even their $4 generics) picked up at once. And the FuelPerks don't max out at $1 per gallon. You can get free fill-up @ Giant Eagle. Also the FuelPerks don't expire the next month like Kroger. You get until the end of the month TWO MONTHS AFTER the month in which you earn them.  So, FuelPerks earned today (March 3) would be good until the end of May. And, of course, your co-pays and other purchases count toward more FuelPerks at rate of 20 cents per $50 spent.

Giant Eagle: $120 in free gas for 4 transfers

Giant Eagle has coupons all over Columbus, Ohio, this week.

In The Columbus Dispatch on Sunday (3/9/2014) there was a slick (with manufacturer coupons) that had four coupons -- each worth up to $30 in free/discounted gas at GetGo for most prescriptions transferred to Giant Eagle.

The sales flyer this week in stores until Wednesday (3/19/2014) also has a coupon for the same offer. 

One expires 4/9 (the sales flyer) and the other on 4/20.

Kroger may honor these ... point to the sign there that says, "We Accept Competitor Coupons." Used to have the word "Gladly" ;-) ... and there are arbitrary lifetime limits that apply there.

Giant Eagle: Up to $120 in free gas for Rx transfers

Giant Eagle brought back their 4 coupons at a time special to point out you can earn a free fill up for 4 prescription transfers (up to $120 value; based on 30 gallons at $4 off/gallon; they're OK with you putting into gas cans what doesn't fit in your talk).

The ones in sales flyers in Columbus, Ohio, through Wednesday (Feb. 5) expire March 12, 2014.

No problem using 4 or more (with 4 or more prescriptions) at a time ... unlike at Kroger.

Kroger gives $1 in free gas for Rx transfer

Kroger in Columbus is offering $1 off gas if you transfer a prescription to them.

This was mentioned in ad on from page of The Columbus Dispatch several times recently and in their sales flyer.

Keep in mind they usually only allow you to redeem one offer at pharmacy per day.

Also, unlike Giant Eagle, gas discounts max out @ $1 off per gallon no matter how many groceries & prescriptions you buy.

Giant Eagle lets you have an unlimited amount of FuelPerks -- allowing you to get a free fill up

Also your discount lasts twice as long -- lasting 60 days from end of month vs. just 30 (at Kroger).

Giant Eagle accepts the Kroger offers (bring in the Kroger ad from paper or sales flyer).  They also have had their own coupons (2 or 4 at a time usually) in their dales flyer lately.  They're glad to let you redeem 4 (or more) with 4 (or more) prescription transfers from competitors.

Giant Eagle coupon for free/reduced fuel (up to $30) is back!

The best incentive in town to transfer prescriptions (and with no hassle or limits) appears in the newest Giant Eagle sales flyer.  It will be in stores (most in Columbus, OH, area at least) this week.

Some CVS locations will match this but only give you gift card worth $25 (which buys you about $10 worth of stuff at grocery store prices ;-).

You should be able to transfer as many Rx to them as you want ... as long as you have a coupon for each ... and pick them all up in one transaction in one day and redeem $1 in FuelPerks for each (that qualifies; free Rx don't, of course) ... PLUS 20¢ in additional FuelPerks for each $50 spent on co-pays, over-the-counter medicine, and other groceries.

$30 in free/discounted gas per Rx transfer to Giant Eagle

Giant Eagle sales flyers (at least some/most?) in Columbus, OH, area have a new Rx coupon this week (in stores May 2-8, 2013).

It's their usual $1 in FuelPerks for a prescription transfer (you need a coupon for each; but no more one-a-day limit on coupon redemption -- for theirs or competitors coupons).

You can get up to 30 gallons with your FuelPerks discount.  What you pay for prescriptions counts toward FuelPerks (20¢ per $50) as well (just like grocery and gift card purchases).

$25 for each Rx transfer to Walgreens, Kroger & more

$25 incentives to transfer prescriptions were all over The Columbus Dispatch on Sunday (Feb. 17) -- a Kroger ad on top right of the front page touted their offer and their usual promise to accept competitor coupons; and, inside the Walgreens sales flyer for this week was another of their coupons.

Extended Expiration Dates:
Walgreens extended their offer to the end of May.
Kroger's coupon-less offer is now good through the end of March.

Walgreens promises a $25 gift card for EVERY prescription you transfer.  Kroger has been known to limit to once per day (or worse -- sometimes saying one per week/transaction/whatever; with lifetime limits after a certain number; see http://matrix.Rx4Less.net, for details on how they are known to be
Rx Coupon Curmudgeons).  

The sales flyer for Walgreens is in stores through today (Saturday, Feb. 23).  The location at Kenny and Henderson has a sign in the window (that's been there for months) that also touts the "Get $25 Gift Card for EVERY prescription you transfer here" promise.  You can also sign up ONLINE to transfer to Walgreens (and get $25 gift card for each prescription transferred) at:

UPDATE (Feb. 24):   The new Walgreens sales flyer that came out today also has the same coupon in it (with the same 5/31 expiration date).

 Kroger also mentions their "Transfer a prescription, get $25 FREE Groceries!" deal in this week's sales flyer (distributed by the bag tossed on your driveway or doorstep or somewhere near your mailbox this week; I had several blow into my driveway each day this week).  Here's what was in that ad:

The Walgreens coupons are accepted at Giant Eagle and CVS (at least in the Columbus, Ohio, area).  Giant Eagle will accept the "coupon-less" Kroger ads as a coupon -- either the ad in the Kroger sales flyer or the ad from the Dispatch (even the little one at top of front page sometimes).  And Giant Eagle no longer limits you to using one Rx coupon per day (the way Kroger does).

Walgreens $25 gift card for Rx transfer; expires 3/31/2013; use @ Giant Eagle, CVS, Kroger too

Walgreens has a coupon to encourage people to transfer prescriptions to them-- for $25 gift card.  Expires 3/31/2013.

Other pharmacies (CVS, Giant Eagle & Kroger) accept competitors' Rx coupons in many areas (including Columbus, OH).  See matrix.Rx4Less.net for details.

If you plan to use at Walgreens and intend to transfer more than one, ask pharmacist prior to transfer whether she/he will honor one coupon PER prescription (as competitors will) or just one per transaction, day, week, month, 6 months (previous policy at most), or worse.

Coupon is on page 20 of THIS week's ad in stores until tomorrow (Saturday, Dec. 22).  It was in most Sunday newspapers on Dec. 16.

They take Express Scripts again and are bring more aggressive than usual with coupons and more flexible about taking multiple ones for multiple prescriptions.  You may need to ask for pharmacy manager to find the flexible mind that knows how badly they need to regain market share lost in fight with Express Scripts to draw line on absurdly low reimbursement rates from the ever-larger Rx plan behemoth.

$25 in FREE Groceries @ Kroger (coupon-less offer) with Rx transfer

In the Kroger sales flyer in most areas of Central Ohio (Greater Columbus), you'll find on the bottom of page two mention that the Kroger Pharmacy is offering $25 in FREE Groceries when you transfer a prescription.  This is in the sales flyer for the week of Oct. 22 to 28, 2012.  In the fine print, it says the offer expires 11/30/12.

As they've been mentioning in radio ads in the area recently, it also says "We accept competitors' pharmacy coupons."  This should include the Giant Eagle coupons that are good through the end of 2012 which show a $30 offer -- $1 off up to 30 gallons gas for an Rx transfer.

If you cut out the Kroger ad and take it to CVS or Giant Eagle, most locations will accept that as a coupon and match the offer with a gift card as shown at http://matrix.Rx4Less.net .

OHIO residents: New rule starts Jan. 1, 2011 to prevent more than one Rx transfer

You can thank the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy (and those who lobbied them for the change they are putting into effect) for making a new rule effective Jan. 1, 2011 that makes it so Ohio residents can:

• NO LONGER transfer a prescription more than ONE time.

Although the intent may have been two-fold by those who lobbied for this change:

• Reduce the number of transfers of prescriptions (as encouraged by Rx coupons commonly available in competitive markets such as Columbus); and to 
• reduce competition from stores that don't have both a NATIONAL (not just regional presence) and online, sharable, real-time prescription database.

There are many other ways people are negatively impacted.

• ELDERLY who move to Florida or other warmer areas for the winter (after getting their prescriptions in teh summer) need to be able to transfer them TWICE -- once to move from the pharmacy most convenient to them here in Ohio and then again when Spring arrives and they return to Ohio.  Often these are NOT the same pharmacy (Kmart or Joe's Pharmacy may be most convenient here in Ohio while they use Rite Aid or some other place in Florida or Arizona or wherever).  In order to have it filled in Ohio again, they will have to have their doctor write a new prescription (which often requires they make a new visit and pay a new co-pay).  A work-around for the future would require that the elderly ask their doctor for TWO scripts for every prescription -- one to keep on file for when they come back in Spring and the other to use for the first few months and then transfer with them when they become "snowbirds."  Or else they can give in to being nudged into using the same pharmacy company in both/all locations (something with a national presence ... or at least both/all regions where they visit ... and that have the online, sharable, real-time prescription database as required in the law to allow transfers between stores of the same brand such as CVS after the first transfer is made).
  
• Those who go to the pharmacy closest to their doctor/hospital at first and then move it to a pharmacy closer to their home but later in the year move location.  to a different location ... or WANT to move to another pharmacy because they're not happy at that store can NOT do so any more because of this new rule change.
  
• Those who may have moved their prescription to a less-convenient location for an incentive -- such as to get a $10 gift card at Target, $30 in free gas at Giant Eagle, or $25 gift card/rewards at Kroger or CVS -- will discover they can NOT move it again after Dec. 31, 2010.  Their prescription will be stranded
